The Words That Run Through My Head:

Who are these kids, and when are their parents coming back?

She's Not White Trash. Yet.

We've been doing a lot of outdoor adventure this week during the evenings. This picture was from Tuesday when Scout spent some time on the two top steps of the pool. Sure the water is cold, but when you're two, it makes sense. After pool time ceased, I put her next to the fire I made (I actually gathered wood from the side of the house to piece it together), and we rolled out dinner....hot dogs over the fire.

You can see that Scout is getting the hang of urban camping. The next night we put up our 4-man tent in the back yard with a sleeping bag too. Scout had a blast. She hadn't done the tent thing before. Scott and I took it down before we went inside, but it was a fun way to evening it together. Obviously, when you have a toddler, it helps to be creative. At least in my case, because I'll go nuts if I have to just dress babies and color with markers EVERY night. And, Scout would probably get sick of it too, after a month or something. So, I try to mix it up and keep it interesting. Plus I have to get her ready for the real world....it isn't all scissors, stickers and tape baby.

I think she takes after her mama - she'll be a true camper. What great ideas to spend some quality time together (and to fill the hours between the end of work and bedtime. Do you ever feel like that? Counting the minutes til bedtime?)
