Yes, she is only one. I mean, for 2 more months, that is. Every now and then, I feel like I should throw up a post of offspring tid-bits. So, here they are:
Offspring Tid-Bits of Late:
Offspring Tid-Bits of Late:
- I bought Scout a potty chair yesterday. Since this summer, she's been notifying me as soon as she poops. I'm pretty sure this is because she doesn't like the rash o' butt which we've battled, and she knows to get that poop off her butt ASAP. But, those were after-the-fact notifications using hand signals. Now, this week she'd been actually walking up to me and saying, "poo-poo." I was so proud. No, really I was so excited that she said poo-poo. I mean, I am a self-described fecal-philiac, so you can imagine my pride. So, yesterday I finally went out and got a potty chair. Well it was a good move because today when she got up from her nap, she went into the bathroom, took her diaper off, sat on her potty chair and pee'd. She sat there for like maybe one minute. I offered her a book, and she turned it down. After she got up, I checked the pot (duh) and there was a lot of pee! I was like, "sweet! pee is great! way to go scout" So, yeah, she went to the potty. I think we're on to something, but I'm not sure to what extent. Time will tell, and I'll keep you updated. I sort of want her to move on to the 2 year old class at her school because they get potty trained at that level. And, I mean she's pretty much a genius (duh) so it just makes sense. I'm sure the administration there will see it the same way. **Just Happened: She pooped this morning (Monday) in the potty. I will post a picture of it soon. Yes I will.
- We bought Scout a new bed. The toddler bed was just too small. We hit Ikea and bought a bunk bed that is a double on the bottom and a twin on the top. It is awesome, and Scout sleeps great in it. Before, with the toddler bed, she woke up about 2x per night. But, we've had this bed for over a week, and she doesn't wake up in the night. I think she was flopping around in that toddler bed and bumping into ever rail, wall, and head/foot board, all causing a wake-up call.
- Since we left California, she's been talking up a storm. Her vocabulary quadrupled since we left her cousin the verbal protege. I'm not sure if C's speech rubbed off on Scout or if it is just her developmental stage, but she's on fire for vocab.
- Last but not least, I've come to the point in my motherhood career that I actually can say I like my daughter. Go ahead and judge me, but I'm just keepin' in real. I didn't like Scout much at all for like one year. And, even this summer at home with her while she was about 18 months, I was just counting the days to go back to work. There, I said it. I didn't like my child until about 3 weeks ago. You know, I never liked babies, and people say, "oh I never liked babies except my own." But, really I never liked babies. AND, I didn't like my own. You guys don't need to tell Scout I wrote this. Thanks.

All of that was awesome. One, can't wait to see the poop picture. Two, one of her on the potty would be awesome too. And three, need a picture of the Ikea bed.
I am so jealous that potty training has started off well. Way to go Scout!
I love your honesty in number 4. I was feeling guilty this weekend because I came to the realization that sometimes I DON'T like my son. He is slamming into the terrible twos like a champ. It wears me out some days. I guess it's all part of the journey of motherhood.
I'm glad Scout's starting to grow on you. :)
And one more thing (because this isn't long enough) - did you buy a bunk bed? Does that mean there's planning for a bunk bed buddy going on? Are you holding out on us?!
Man, I have yet to get even a pee in Baby C's potty! Dammit!
And people gave me grief for not putting Baby C in a true toddler bed, but the giant bed is great, right?
I agree that the older they get the more lovable they are.
I mean, Mr. RDT is a lovable little marshmallow, but I'll be happier when he can walk and talk and feed himself.
I don't know, I feel like it was the conversation Scout and I had about the mousse in her hair. I feel like that really opened up her world of products. She now can say what she really wants...and that's lotion.
She does love her products....and especially lotion.
That's it... Kai needs to go stay at your house for a week or so... Will you tell Scout to be sure and potty train him while he is there...!? And, on #4... I do understand. While at the zoo the other day I watched as Kai layed down on the sidewalk and refused to move...need I say more????
Honestly, I could have done without the potty pic.
Way to go, Scout! I hope Jett is a genius, I don't see it happening! Uhg! I want a big bed for Jett NOW, he hits his head on his crib during the night like crazy!
Love the potty pic, way to go Scout, nice texture and coloring.
