Adventures In Potty Training

Scout is one month over two years. Now, I've entered the realm of potty training for real. (Sure, I got lucky with a couple of pee's/poo's early on, but nothing for the last few months.) While at school, Scout wears thick undies with a plastic cover, and the teacher takes them into the little-bitty bathroom like every 20 minutes or something. So, when we are at home, I feel like I should be supporting the whole thing. Sure, it is easier to just slap a pull-up on her and not care (which I often do), but I try to make an effort to use the undies and take potty trips.
Scout loves to watch her video Prudence (Once Upon A Potty) and sing along. I highly recommend purchasing the set (doll, book, and dvd) which can be with a boy or a girl.
I've talked with some parents of 2-4 year olds up here at school, and gotten different information. People say, don't even think about it until 2 1/2, so that made me feel better about not having any success. Then, others were like, my kid is past 3 and they still aren't potty trained. So, it definitely varies from kid to kid.
Another new development is that Scout doesn't want to use her little potty chair. She only wants to use the real toilets. Exciting news in our life is that last night: Scout POOPED IN THE POTTY!! Yeah, we shouted and danced and clapped. I've never been so excited about a turd in my life. We rewarded her with M&M's, and she was pretty happy. Then, this morning, she was willing to sit on the toilet, and SHE WENT PEE!!!!! Again...celebrating and M&M's.
I'm not sure if we are just getting lucky again, or if this means something, But, I'll take what I can get. We just roll low key around here.

Good job! It helps to have the daycare supportive too. Scout is smart she will get the hang of it and the M&Ms are a definite motivator!

Yea for poop:) Scout is a prodigy; she'll be trained in no time! I am less ready to start the potty training journey than Charlie is, so I am very impressed by your efforts. How awesome that you have such a great daycare! Good luck.

It's the little things...as my grandma used to say..."she isn't going to college in a diaper"...which I have always thought was funny. M&M's all around!! Love it!

With 2 boys I was told oh don't count on much at all they are slow.... Well like you said they are all diffrent and both my boys were trained at 18 months before any one else and I really didn't try and had no expectations. One of the kids was a bedwetter til 9 yrs old and there was no stopping that..His dad and my sister wet til they were ten yrs old. but during the day my 2 guys were fine .

Yay!! We are still working on Kai (and by no means are we good at taking him every 20 minutes - yeah right, we are bad parents - lol). Kai only wants the "big" potty now too. Still no peepee or poopoo! Way to go Scout!
