Target Portraits - Bust

As I said in yesterday's post, I had a 10am appointment today for "portraits" at Target's studio. I got her dressed (no small feat). I did her hair (again a challenge of its own). I even put in matching barrettes. I told her all morning about what was ahead....getting her pictures taken. She was all for it. We got to Target 10 minutes early. I was so excited because we were on time, she was all looking good, and I had done it all by myself. Yes, I was proud of myself for getting her ready.

We waited for the photographer to show up at 10am and get everything set up, then we walked into the doorway of the actual studio, and Scout totally had a meltdown. She was just beside herself with tears and cries and shouts of "I wanna go home." But wanna and home were both like 5 syllables; you know how they get elongated during times of crying?

I'm thinking to myself, I'll get her to calm down and go in there. I mean we are here and dressed. I won't let this beat me. But, no. I failed. The whole thing was one huge pile of frustration. I was actually really mad about it when we left. She was crying, "I want chocolate milk" as we walked to the car. I was saying, "You aren't getting chocolate milk. I told you that was IF you took the pictures!" Yeah, I did.

So, I called Scott and vented to him what happened. He met me at the park to squeeze out a few mementos of this day, and even at the park she only made it through two pics before crying to the tune of, "I want cameraaaaa." I just put her back in the car and drove directly home. I wanted to leave her in the tulips.

And, I present to you....pictures that don't say a thousand words....

Oh man, I feel your pain. I didn't have an appointment with a real photographer or pretty hair to "do" or a beautiful dress to put on and our Easter pictures were SO frustrating!!
Don't you love how you try to negotiate with your two-year-old and it backfires?
Anyway, I think the tulip pics DO say a thousand words. Nice Easter salvage:)

The tulips are great! You would never know from these pics that she had a major meltdown.
